HOLLY GODSEY - Holly is the Director of W.E.S.T. (Water, the Environment, Science and Teaching) and co-Director of E.A.S.T. (Embedded Alliance for Science Teaching) at the University of Utah.   The programs involve graduate and undergraduate students in partnerships with K-12 teachers to develop inquiry-based and hands-on science activities.  Her biggest career challenge thus far is managing over 1,000 4th grade students on boat excursions to Great Salt Lake!

Holly has a B.S. in Geology from the University of Utah, a M.S. in Marine Geology and Geochemistry from the University of Michigan, and will be completing her Ph.D. in Geology at the University of Utah this summer.   Her graduate work focuses on using the gunk at the bottom of lakes to learn about past environments and climate change.

Holly also serves as a content advisor for the new Utah Museum of Natural History, advised and appeared in a documentary film about the preservation of landscapes with geological value (i.e. “Geoantiquities), and developed an “Ice Age Teaching Kit” for the Utah Geological Survey.  She also had a short stint as a river guide many, many years ago.
